The questions we get most often.

Yes — an Enhanced DBS check (Children's Workforce category) is mandatory for every teacher NUPAF places, without exception. Your DBS certificate must be submitted and verified before placement is confirmed. NUPAF will guide you through the application process, and you can track your DBS status in your secure teacher portal.
You don't need a DBS before applying — but you must initiate the application before your video consultation. NUPAF provides step-by-step guidance via your teacher portal on how to apply for an Enhanced DBS through the DBS Update Service. Standard processing takes around 14 days. Your placement cannot be confirmed until the certificate is received and verified.
NUPAF requires all teachers to complete our mandatory safeguarding training and any country- or school-specific safeguarding requirements. These are completed online and take approximately 2.5 hours in total. An annual refresher is required for all placed teachers.
Your secure Teacher Portal is created during your application process. It's your private dashboard for tracking DBS status, uploading documents, completing safeguarding training, monitoring your placement pipeline, and communicating with your NUPAF consultant and mentor. Login credentials are sent to your email on submission.
A TEFL is required if you do not already hold a teaching qualification. If you don't hold one, NUPAF can guide you through a recognised TEFL programme that can be completed before or alongside your placement process. This is discussed in detail at your video consultation.
Once you submit your application, our AI instantly scores your profile against live vacancies across our five destination countries — factoring in subject, experience, preferred destination, start date, and safeguarding clearance status. Consultants review the recommendations and create a personalised shortlist, shared with you at your video consultation. AI does the screening; humans do the matching.
NUPAF coordinates your full visa journey. Your school sponsors a business visa pre-arrival. After arrival, NUPAF guides you through the work permit application — requiring a legalised university degree, DBS / criminal background check, in-country health check, and signed labour contract — followed by your Temporary Residence Card.
